The People's Facts - Ford 400

A mere 10 months after it began, the NASCAR season is coming to a close, and the People's Pitstop is still pursuing its goal of finishing in the top 100 in the Fans of From the Marbles league. To do that, we need you, the Internet, to pick us a lineup. The polls are on your right and are available to take your votes now. And it's time to take one last look at our last racing site of 2010.

Track basics: Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida is a 1.5-mile oval that's had more than its share of facelifts since its construction as part of the response to Hurricane Andrew.

Recent winners: Denny Hamlin (2009), Carl Edwards (2008), Matt Kenseth (2007).

Who wins here a lot: The only active NASCAR driver who can be put into this category this week is Greg Biffle. He has three wins on this track. No other active driver has more than one.

What matters this week: Everything. Homestead is usually an afterthought on the NASCAR calendar, but this year the top three drivers enter this race separated by only 46 points. Hamlin does have a win here, while Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick has each finished second. Clearly, none of these drivers can afford to hang back to avoid trouble. And as this Sport Science video demonstrates, they can't afford to have a bad pit stop.

We'll be back with some thoughts about a certain football game.
