Fearless Predictions - Week 10

Like the Chicago Bears, the weekly predictions for the People's League took a big step back toward respectability last week by going 4-1, lifting our season record to 20-24-1. One more week like that, and we'll be near the .500 mark. With that goal in mind, here come this week's fantasy football forecasts.

People's Pigskin vs. Minneapolis Fantastic Houll: The Houll used three players on Thursday night and got 11 points. The Pigskin used one player (Michael Bush) and scored 29 points. Mathematics alone point toward another Pigskin win.

VinSethVaughn Bears vs. t-bay jacks Young'ry Buccs: Both sides have full complements of players available. The difference here may be in the receivers. The Buccs can get tons of points quickly from Santonio Holmes and Julio Jones. That's enough to pick the Buccs here.

LA Lockouts vs. Hudson Valley Hawks2: The Lockouts got 4 points from Nick Novak on Thursday, while the Hawks got 19 from Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates. Drew Brees and Adrian Peterson seem primed for big outings, and they should drive the Lockouts to another victory.

Arcadia Roses vs. Glen Gardner's Finest: Both teams are 5-4 and have full complements of players. This could easily by the highest-scoring matchup in the People's League. The Finest have the finest of edges here by virtue of a New York Jets defense that can wreak havoc on the New England Patriots.

Palm Bay, Fl. BearDown85 vs. Team Brotherton: The BearDowns got 8 points from Vincent Jackson and Sebastian Janikowski on Thursday. The Brothertons have a full complement of players, including a sneaky-good Jermichael Finley playing Monday night. Even if the Brothertons don't wrap up the win on Sunday, Finley should push them over the top.

Fearless Predictions - Week 4

As the curtain rises on the first NFL games of October, we bid a fond farewell to September (unless you're a fan of the Boston Red Sox or Atlanta Braves, in which case you might just say "Good @#$%!$ riddance!"). We also give a warm welcome to the latest set of fantasy football predictions for the People's League. Last week's forecasts went 3-2, lifting our season record above .500 at 8-7.
People's Pigskin vs. t-bay jacks Young'ry Buccs. This week's game shouldn't get as out of hand as last week's, but the Pigskin should still get enough production from enough sources to handle the Buccs.
Palm Bay, Fl. BearDown 85 vs. Arcadia Roses. Reggie Wayne needs somebody to throw him the ball. And until Curtis Painter demonstrates that he can do that, the Roses will be at an unfortunate disadvantage. The BearDowns should pull this one out.
Glen Gardner's Finest vs. VinSethVaughn Bears. The Finest are counting on Victor Cruz to repeat last week's performance and on Kendall Hunter to make 49ers fans forget about Frank Gore. Getting both things to happen in the same week would be a tall order. The Bears get the pick here.
LA Lockouts vs. Team Brotherton. The Drew Brees vs. Joe Flacco matchup alone would be entertaining. But eventually, the Minnesota Vikings will figure out that their fortunes rest on the shoulder pads of Adrian Peterson. He should have a big day, and the Lockouts should ride him to victory.
Minneapolis Fantastic Houll vs. Hudson Valley Hawks2. Raise your hand if you thought the Tennessee Titans would have a top 10 fantasy defense/special teams this season. They should keep rolling against the Cleveland Browns and help the Hawks win a squeaker.

Draft Night, Baby!

There are few better times in a fantasy football player's life than the draft. As the NFL commercial said a few years back, as of right now, we're all undefeated. No one has suffered any Brian Westbrooks or DeSean Jacksons or any of the million other events that can break your heart on any given Sunday. Your roster is healthy (for the most part), and you have no reason to feel anything but optimism about the season.
For the People's League, that optimism will hit its peak at 9 p.m. EST tonight, when we hold our annual draft. By Tuesday, we should have a roster for the People's Pigskin and a new set of polls that will determine our lineup each week. (Remember: You, the Internet, told us to target Adrian Peterson, Aaron Rodgers, Larry Fitzgerald and Jason Witten in our draft, and we will do our best to get them on the roster.)
We came oh so close to winning the People's League championship last year. With your help, we can reach the top.
What we can't do is wait for Mother Nature to stop messing with NASCAR. The Sprint Cup race that was supposed to take place Sunday night at Atlanta Motor Speedway has been postponed until Tuesday morning. We will try to get the People's Pitstop results to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, we are forced to turn our attention to Saturday night's race at Richmond International Raceway, the last chance for drivers to get into the Chase for the Sprint Cup. It's a Saturday night race with a Friday qualifying session, so we have lineup polls up already. They will close Thursday night. Feel free to vote now.

Fearless predictions: week 3

Another week, another 3-2 record for the fearless predictions, leaving us at 6-4 for the season. Time to tempt fate with another batch of forecasts for the Landshark Maniacs league.

Peoples Pigskin vs. Tinks Revenge. Yes, I see the 2-0 record for Tinks, and I see the name "Drew Brees" in her lineup. Neither fact scares me. You, the Internet, will rally us to another win.

Southern Rebels vs. Hawaiian Surfriders. The Surfriders, of course, are the team formerly known as the Hawaiian MaiTai Guzzlers, famously chosen here in this blog as "my personal favorite among the league names." I don't know if this is a Johnson-to-Ochocinco vanity move on the Hawaiians' part. All I know is that as long as Adrian Peterson is on the roster, I'm picking the Surfriders to win.

Northeast Dragons vs. Houston Wreckin' Crew. The Crew did the smart thing having Felix Jones ready to go in case Marion Barber's injury is truly serious. That kind of preparedness will be rewarded with a Crew victory.

T-Bay Jacks 151rum Stumblrs vs. D.C. Destroyers. It's the three words that no fantasy player ever wants to hear: "game time decision." And it looks like Percy Harvin will be under that category this Sunday. That may be enough to doom the Stumblrs and give the Destroyers the edge in an otherwise close matchup.

Big Lough O vs. Ravens Fan T Sizzle. The two previous opponents of the People's Pigskin face each other. We know that both teams are strong. What we don't know is how Fred Jackson can be expected to produce 32 points. This one goes to the Lough Os.
